Joy of Mail2Blogger

image

For some postings I am now using the Mail2Blogger email feature.

I just send an email to a special blogger email address and it is instantly published.

<b>Limitations</b>

There are some limitations...
Only plain text is published so any HTML formatting is lost.
I am testing if it is possible to add basic HTML mark-up such as <b>bold</b> in the email .
Images probably don't work.
Labels & categories are not supported.

Post your Mail2Blogger experiences and tips in the comments below...

Posting using Windows Live Writer

This post was created using Windows Live Writer from Windows Server 2003 and then edited from Vista. Windows Live Writer is not supported on Windows Server 2003 so I had to locate an installer on from another blog.

Windows Live Writer appears to be a very pleasant application and much easier to use then FrontPage and even the template add-in in Word 2007.

A major advantage of Windows Live Writer is that images can be cut and pasted onto the page and when published are uploaded to storage space on blogger so there is no need for me to have my own FTP space.

Blogger labels are supported and they can be added as categories.

If only Windows Live Writer would work on Windows Mobile…

Does it work?

Lets see…

Use copy + paste and upload an image…

Hello World Using Google Docs

Hello World

This entry created and published using Google Docs.

Convert line breaks is not working which is causing double line spacing - need to use the line break <shift><cr> instead of the hard <cr>

Images are supported but no cut and paste so I have to save the file to my hard drive and then upload the file to Google Docs.

There is the benefit that image is then hosted on Google Docs and I don't have to use my external FTP server to host images.

The editor is a bit flaky and I'm getting lots of scripting errors.

actual.myzen.co.uk

I have changed the picture options on the Word 2007 blogging template to use my FTP hosting space actual.myzen.co.uk

Now I can cut and paste an image into Word 2007 and when I publish the post to my blog it is automatically copied to my FTP space.

It would be even better if images could be hosted on blogspot…
